Botox & Fillers

What are Botox & Fillers?

Botox has been used for years to smooth wrinkles and improve a person’s overall appearance. However, Botox as well as other fillers can be used in dental applications to improve your dental and oral health. Botox can be used to improve TMJ functions, improve the fit and feel of dentures as well as smooth wrinkles around the lips and mouth. These fillers are safe and highly effective at what they’re able to do.

Why Might Botox & Fillers Be Needed

Why might Botox & Fillers be needed?

There are a variety of different applications when it comes to Botox and fillers. For patients with TMJ dysfunction, Botox can be used to relax and calm the joint, preventing pain and discomfort. Some of our patients can benefit from Botox because they have an ill-fitting denture that is causing irritation. We can even use fillers to smooth wrinkles and improve facial symmetry.

Botox is safely used on patients who need this treatment. It is meant for adults and can be used for both cosmetic as well as restorative and pain relief benefits. The effects of Botox as well as other fillers are not permanent. You will need to come back into the office for retreatment several months after the initial application.

What can you expect during treatment using Botox & Fillers?

We first consult with you and perform an examination. This allows us to see if and where you would benefit from Botox the most. During the procedure, we will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the skin before the injection is administered. We then administer the injection where it is needed. Multiple injections may be needed to achieve the desired results. Results are often immediate and can last for several months. Once the effects of Botox have worn off, you can come back into our office for retreatment.
