Orthodontics
What are Orthodontics?
Orthodontic treatment aims to improve the look and alignment of your smile. If your teeth are crowded or crooked or if you have spaces and gaps between your teeth, you might benefit from orthodontics. Treatment is ideal for patients of all ages, and it’s never too late to start loving your smile. We aim to make the orthodontic treatment process as easy and affordable for you as possible.
Why would Orthodontics be needed?
Crooked and crowded teeth can cause you to feel badly about your appearance. What’s more, having severe orthodontic misalignment can affect the health of your teeth. It can be difficult to care for and clean your teeth properly when they are overcrowded. This can lead to areas of tooth decay and gum disease if treatment isn’t provided.
Who is a candidate for Orthodontic treatment?
Most patients who want orthodontic treatment can and should consider treatment. Treatment is specific to each patient who is having it done. We will examine your teeth and take x-rays to determine if and when orthodontic treatment is needed. For parents, it’s a good idea to bring your child in for their first orthodontic consultation around the time they are eight years old.
What happens during the Orthodontic process?
The orthodontic process always begins with a consultation. This allows us to get to know you and your specific smile goals and needs. We will then recommend treatment based on these needs and what you want your smile to look like over time. We recommend that you commit to treatment to improve results and to prevent treatment from being prolonged. You will need to come in for regular checkup visits to have adjustments made or new clear aligners created for you to wear. Once treatment is finished, you’ll need to maintain the results with a custom made retainer that we can make for you.
